What is Tribal Art?
- Tribal Art is a very special type of art and is rarely created strictly for its own sake.
- Even the most aesthetically beautiful designs have significance.
Whether ceremonial in origin or for utilitarian use, most tribal art springs from ancient and very traditional tribal, clan, and family imagery and design.
The Jungle Outpost features tribal arts and crafts from around the world - Huichol beadwork, dragons and fairies, Tibetan singing bowls, gift from Indonesia, tribal drums, Tibetan and tribal jewelry. We are especially noted for our collection of New Guinea art (we house the largest selection of Papua New Guinea tribal art for sale in North America). The pieces of oceanic tribal art from Jungle Outpost provide authentic artwork for your home that you won’t find anywhere else.
Gallery Hours
Like with the Reptile Gardens Gift Shop, the Jungle Outpost is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or you can check out the online store for the Jungle Outpost. Don’t worry, you don’t need to pay zoo admission to browse the variety of oceanic tribal art at the Jungle Outpost.
The Jungle Outpost is unlike any other Rapid City, SD attraction or art collection you’ll see. In fact it's unlikely you will see as much New Guinea art for sale in one place anywhere else!
